Metals are used for a number of purposes today, all the more so in the field of construction. The joining together of metals is needed to make these metals useful. In construction for instance, you need to form steel alloys from various metals. This may be because you need to achieve a desired shape or a desired composition. For whatever purpose that you may have, metals can be joined together through the process of welding. For welding to be effective you need heat as well as pressure, and these two elements will cause the metals to be joined together.
Types of Welding
Welding is very useful when it comes to construction, because metals need to be transformed from their natural state to the state that will make sense structurally. Welding has been used for a long time, and the processes have evolved since then. One of the most popular types of welding is Arc Welding, which creates an electric arc between welding electrodes and the base metal in order to melt the material. Safety Issues
The process of welding metals usually involves high levels of heat, so it can really be dangerous without the proper equipment. Aside from heat, it usually involves poisonous gases as well as ultraviolet radiation. This makes welding a hazardous process that really requires strict safety precautions. Without the proper safety precautions, the welder may experience burns, eyesight damage, electric shock, or even inhalation of fumes. This can be avoided by making sure that safety procedures are in place, and of course through the proper welding attire. Welding mask will definitely help protect the welder, but other protective clothes like thick leather gloves and protective jackets will be good too.
